On May 29, the closing and awarding ceremony of the winners of the XVII Cheboksary International Film Festival took place in the hall of the Chuvash State Philharmonic Society. Several participants became winners of the ethnic and regional cinema competition in the nominations. Among them, the Turkmen film “The Tree of Destiny” directed by Sahysalyh Bayramov was awarded a special jury prize. This was reported to a SalamNews correspondent at the Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association.

The film, shot last year at the “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguzkhan, tells the story of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, when the main character’s husband goes to the front as a volunteer, and she has to wait for many years for the return of her beloved.

The Turkmen film, like all films presented in the program of the Cheboksary festival, was shown in the original language.

The XVII Cheboksary International Film Festival was held from 23 to 29 May in the Chuvash Republic. This year, the famous film director and People's Artist of Russia Alexander Proshkin became its artistic director, and producer Dmitry Pirkulov became its program director. The film festival was attended by popular Russian theatre and cinema actors, film directors and artists from 15 countries.
